Missing the Box, and for composition [subject left] It was likely Artist’s liberty there.^^The reason the strip used 37 Durham as an address is simply that it’s where Reg Smythe’s Mother Florence Smythe lived with her no good drunken " ’Usband"… Frankly. it appauls me that such an historically important home as that was razed for a school, as if THAT was important :p
Seriously though, Andy Capp is literally the one thing about Hartlepool known World wide, and 37 Durham could have been a tourist magnet
I wonder if Andy learned to imbibe at HIS school? I’ve always had the feeling that he started right early. As for today’s strip, I think it’s funnier when Andy tries to cadge off his friends and neighbors than going through official channels. Are there organized crime loan sharks in Andy’s neck of the woods?
@Gweedo MurrayI know what you mean. There are some past strips with over 100 comments on them. You’ll find that at least 5 of those past strips don’t contain my talk on them. Read those 5 slowly and enjoy my ‘no talk’ as long as you can. LOL.Sorry to hear you were exhausted. Hope you are a lot more well rested now.Have a great day.
The bank manager does look odd. His top half is that of a typical Capp’s world official (he looks like Percy the rent collector) but his trousers are like something from a Jethro Tull yard sale. Although, it’s just as well that they are so vivid, if the colourist had chosen to paint the pants pink, it would have looked like he had nothing on at all.
Andy has been appling for a loan for…oh…45 years and you would think by this time……eternal optimist. Loan~win at the track~win at Snooker~barmaid sayin’ yes. (it is Snooker and not Pool, right?)
@Chalkie jYour classic post of Andy and the evil smoking material (in this case a little kid……) was one of the funniest I’ve ever seen! I don’t remember it from any of the books in my collection.@whoever was requesting The Complete AndyFantagraphics Books does the “Peanuts”, and also “Pogo” and Carl Barks, among others. I just checked out one of their collections of Uncle Scrooge from the library. I only own the first “Peanuts” collection but I’ve read all the rest. (And I have close to 40 of the old paperback “Peanuts” in my collection.) Maybe Fantagraphics would respond if there were a groundswell of support for a complete edition of Andy? It couldn’t hurt to try!
And I can’t discuss funny dog tricks either, Beloved Tina is over the bridge, But I did put up 38 jars of plum jam last weekend and 8 jars of plum chutney. Not that icky sweet stuff (with high fructose corn gack) but a good English Chutney. Oniony and spicy. Prof? are you reading this? We aren’t discussing the strip, Yoo Hoo.
I’ve been trying to be a happy camper today. It just seems the news is too, too bad. It is so wonderful to pop in here and read the daily stuff’n’such. May you all be blessed and always here. Y’all lift my spirits more than I can express.

Good strip today. Reg would be proud. Although it is evident that the colorist has been at the gin. Orange and black striped pants? Blimey!

Andy is much better at borrowing in the private sector…
But not everyone appreciates has talent…

forget Institutions; Andy get his loans from a private source:
. . . benefit being; always pre-approved.

He has fancy trousers…
Sorry, Andy. You’re wasting your time. He has 0% interest in giving you either loan.

i’m real interested in the second Decade; the British Comics Archive stops after 2 Jan 1967. They’re the Ones needing the bonk.
