Go for it Flo, that’s about as romantic as he’s going to get. Don’t forget to bring your pocketbook.

So, what reason would Andy have for inviting Flo along?

    1) He needs her to pay for the beer.2) He need her to hold his coat in the darts game.3) He wants a meal that isn’t burnt to a crisp.4) All of the above.

One of those old phrases, when we didn’t think we were being offensive. It really is, though, and should become obsolete. It means one who gives something and then takes it back. Hardly fair. The natives of the western hemisphere were not happily giving things to the European settlers, they were losing them.

The pacing seems off. Looks like Flo needed one more pose and expression in between, because the final panel seems to be her reaction to Andy’s line.

@LinguistI think you’ve ‘hit the nail on the head’. Conversing with my bank by phone, I tried to explain that I wanted to be doubly assured. So I said I was ‘a belt & braces’ man. A complete blank from the young lady and in my attempts to explain the meaning of the phrase I felt sure she thought I was making some sort of sexual innuendo. Oh dear, Oh dear. Normally I feel my age is about 27, but with that experience 150 years old. My world seems to have disappeared.

It refers to a person who gives you something then takes it back.

Indian giver was a derogative not directed at Native Americans but towards the U.S. Govt., for a string of broken treaties and broken promise,s made by the ‘white man’ The Feds were famous for giving tribes land rights and then rescinding them. Hence, Indian givers.

" Injun’ " could be construed in modern day PC thinking as being a slightly racist construct, if you’re so inclined to read it that way, but then consider the expression " Honest, Injun’ ! " which can be interpreted either way.

Personally, I am not offended by the words people use, but how they say them, and what they mean to construe by them.
