Actually, what he said in full was “we have plenty of jobs, but no vagrancies”. Must be a small town where everyone knows ol’ Andy Capp! Lo and Behold, Andy found a way again! Next time, Florrie, you’ll be wise to do the asking yourself.

What is this, a joke or a lie…!? (Are lies supposed to be funny?)

If he did get hired, Andy would beat up the foreman and get fired.

He asked for $15 an hour and the foreman couldn’t stop laughing.

If Andy was a saint (no drinking, smoking, gambling, hard working), there wouldn’t be much of a strip.

Is that second panel an outside view or are they digging up the floor inside?

Just as well. Andy accepting work would be a sure sign of the Apocalypse.

How long have Andy and Flo been married? She should know that she needs to go with Andy in such situations.Flo has pushed Andy to get a job before, so sometimes she fits the definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
