I’m in agreement about Andy’s misbehaviour, P.C. Alan.

If you don’t want your advice to go over his head, you need to talk down to him.

@Linguist Today’s strip is slightly funny with PC Alan breaking the fourth wall in panels 2 and 3 and with our HERO still lucid enough to see the actual stars :o) my avatar for want of a better one I have of Connie and me holding our Princess Amy 18 years ago today is of Mr Bean wishing her a Happy Birthday, comment avez vous passe votre jour mon moins vieeux ami ? our day should be busy but calm I hope with no errands or visits as both my sons are on duty , stay safe and BCNU habib

Wouldn’t be easier if you had a hand-truck hanging around somewhere. I’d find it easier than dragging Andy around the streets to the lock-up.

Alan was right in the third panel when he told Andy “The trouble with you is you never listen to anyone.” Despite knowing this, he kept talking to Andy and expected an answer!

Besides having “Andy Capp” and “Calvin and Hobbes” collections, I also have “Oor Wullie” collections. “Oor Wullie” is a strip in a Scottish Sunday newspaper called The Sunday Post which is also published in other parts of the UK and widely read in England – I read a few years ago that about a third of Sunday Post readers are English rather than Scottish. A few weeks ago, I read a “Nancy Classics” strip which reminded me of one of my favourite “Oor Wullie” strips. I printed a summary of the Wullie strip for Nancy Classics readers and it got three “likes” including one from someone who had “liked” my “Andy Capp” comment that day.

The “Oor Wullie” strip contained a fight cloud with Scottish as well as English words so it may be of some interest to Andy Capp fans. I shall now print a new summary of the “Oor Wullie” strip and a summary of today’s “Oor Wullie” strip.

It’s instructive that Alan was talking to a brick wall when he asked if he was right or wrong.

The stars at night are big and bright deep in the heart of Texas.

I would think the main thing that would come to mind would be all those bumps his head took along the way.

How many of each star do you see, Andy? I think he really sees at least double of what is really in the sky.

Just because I give you advice doesn’t mean I know more than you, it just means I’ve probably done more stupid stuff.

My all-time favorite Andy Capp episode: Andy, in his usual state of enjoying life, is accosted by a constable.

“My, my, we ARE sloshed, aren’t we?”

“I’ll have yer know I’m NOT sloshed, I’m just intoxicated!”

“Well, then I won’t PINCH yer, I’ll just APPREHEND yer.”

(The constable picks Andy up by the scruff of his scarf.)

    “I should think so, too!”

Stars? I think Andy would more likely be seeing pink elephants.
