After Gray died, the strip was drawn by several artists and popularity declined until the Broadway Play revived it again in 1977. The strip was then handed over to Leonard Starr in 1979 and renamed Annie. Starr kept it until he retired in 2000 and Jay Maeder took over until the strip’s cancellation in 2010. So, yes. This is the very same strip, just a different writer and artist.
