FAMOUS COSTUMED CRIMEFIGHTERS SCHOOLBoca Raton, FLLesson #14b: Taking On A Partner (Cont.)
As was stated in the previous part of this lesson, it is always more desirable for a partner/sidekick to join you voluntarily. Usually, the sidekick will ask to be part of your mission (especially if he or she is what is commonly referred to as a “tween”), but care should be taken to make sure he or she knows what they’re getting into, or that the sidekick’s own issues do not needlessly complicate your own mission. (See Sidekicks, B. Wayne, Class of ’39, Dean Emeritus) In the case of the prospective crusader depicted above, it is uncertain whether the youth he has “kept” for his sidekick (who, unbeknownst to him, has survived a plane crash and is suffering from amnesia) is willingly going along, has regained her memory and is playing for time until she can escape or – either way – is in the early stages of Stockholm Syndrome. It would be helpful to the prospective crusader to reveal his true identity to the young lady. This will not only gain her trust, but will help build the partnership. Of course, if seeing who he really is makes her want to leave all the more, a suppply of memory-erasing medications or the neuralizer device (See MIB Agency, Class of 90) is a good idea to keep handy…
