"Why not paint the living room?" groan "I'll save us both some trouble and money!" "It's too dark! It's too icky! It doesn't look like the paint chip!"
When we moved into our house, we had the living room painted the same shade as we’d seen in a model house. I was very careful to match the color. The first time I walked into the (empty) painted room, I was horrified… it was too dark and looked ghastly. I thought I’d made a horrible mistake. But once we got the furniture moved in, the color magically transformed to what I was expecting. Funny how that works.
I’m secretly in awe of the interior designers on those home renovation shows. The crazy/courageous things they do during the rebuild, that look kinda stunning at the final reveal when it’s all finished.
