Arlo and Janis premiered July 29, 1985, 25 years ago this week. We're celebrating by not drawing any new cartoons. Instead, we hope you'll enjoy a look backward, starting with this slightly truncated comic strip from August 8, 1986. Gene says, "Let me get this straight--- when you were a kid, you had nuclear-war drills?" Arlo says, "Yep!" Gene says, "And you were told, in the event of nuclear war, to get under your desk?" Arlo says, "Yep!" Gene says, "Would this be the same school where you learned everything else you know?"
