Janis: Now how do I get back to cable?
Arlo: You mastered your smartphone, but the remote still gives you trouble!
Arlo: Why is that?
Janis: I don't know!
Janis: Maybe because there's always a man to fall back on when it comes to the remote!

Only one remote?

My remote has lots of buttons, but I only use three of them, the power switch, channel changer, and volume control. I don’t know what the others do and I do not care.

There’s something the matter with me…I have to figure out what every button does on everything…every command on every menu …every camera setting, useful or not…
every trick the answering machine will do, or my cordless phone, or my smartphone…
I can’t stand it if it can do something and I don’t know about it…(though I have to say, there are apps Verizon put on my phone that I didn’t choose, and haven’t used yet, and probably never will.)

I programmed our Direct TV controller so that we can control the TV, DVD, Surround sound from one control otherwise we would need four controllers to watch a program. Well, needless to say, I’m master of the controller. Nobody else can figure out how to use it. What a power trip!

Patsy’s new Galaxy Tab 2.0 supposedly also does remote control except it has to be near WiFi and TV and other devices at the same time.
Poor, poor pitiful me — got another remote and can’t use it.

This is familiar! I can do anything on my smart phone, while my husband has no interest in even remembering how to get his voice mail. But I am completely confused by the remotes for the TV/satellite/DVR, while he can work them all. If he’s not home, I have to watch TV on my computer. Luckily, I don’t watch much TV anyway, so it’s not a big deal.

Lack of standard interface and too many buttons.
