Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for February 12, 2014
Transcript:
Janis: Gene may be losing his job and you say, "We'll have something to talk about"? Arlo: Just joking! Janis: After all, this is serious! What is Gus thinking? When would it happen? Janis: Should they be looking for a job now? Do they have any savings? Arlo: "A prophet in his own land is without honor!"

whats is the problem?Either Gene and Marylou buy out Pops 55% of the business and run it. Or take the 45% that is her’s and invest it in the farm. Problem solved. Move on.

@Arlo. That’s because he’s usually out on the street corner harassing people who only want to go about the business of the moment.

Great line from Arlo! I am still getting a “feeling” that somehow A & J may end up “retiring” and buying Gus’s place and living on the boat… so the group is more together. Even though initially I thought it was unlikely, it seems in my gut to be growing more possible as the progression of the story.

“Janus” looks toward the future and the past, never at the present.

Gene did not tell Janus that Gus was going to leave Mary Lou and him a good chunk of change or Mary Lou and Gene will wind up with the business. It is decision time for Mary Lou, run away to the land or enjoy the beach life. Wonder how much they can get for a rebuilt farm house with storm windows and a acreage.

For about ten years, I had three rules on my office wall:
Get the job doneKeep the Boss out of troubleHave as much fun as possible while observing rules 1&2.It worked for me but some of my co workers thought I was either weird or sucking up. I’m retired so now I work on the fun stuff.bsqnbay almost 11 years ago
I like how Janis is still flapping her gums while Arlo has long stopped paying attention.

Way, way back — and I know this is hard to believe — I was somewhat full of myself. Some older lady would say, “I remember changing your diaper.”That seemed off topic at the time.Later, I changed a few thousand diapers and came to understand that was her way of explaining she was not impressed and never could be.

Oh lord he is using the “Janice didn’t hear the good part of the story” angle and now we gotta listen to her stress and moan.
And once again I really don’t get the end panel in this strip…but I love it anyway.
