Arlo: Look! A satellite! See it?
Janis: Yes! I see it!
Arlo: Amazing when you think about it!
Arlo: There's another one!
Janis: I think I see one!
Arlo: There's one!
Arlo: Creepy, when you think about it!
“Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that’s how it always starts. Then later there’s running and screaming.” (Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm in “The Lost World:Jurassic Park.”)
With so many satellites you would wonder if the images they capture are in 3-D. Of course not all the satellites are operated by one nation; smile you are on spy cam.
Actually, resolution is even more limited by the size of the camera’s lens, or the telescope’s mirror in the case of a reflecting telescope. That’s why the Hale scope (200") and even bigger ones were built. Not only do they collect more light, they have a better resolution than smaller ones. If air turbulence was the only limiting factor, the Hubble wouldn’t have had to be 94.8" across, would it?
Anyhoo, just because a satelite exists doesn’t mean it is an observation satelite. It could be weather, GPS, DirecTV, even the Moon..Now, those little skeeter sized remotely operated flying devices and mechanical cockroaches, on the othe hand…..

If they use adaptive optics, as many of the newer ground-based telescopes do, they may be able to remove even those effects!
