Wow! You sure know the singers of a lot of songs!

I can hear those songs in my head so clearly it’s like I’ve got the radio playing right next to me. I don’t know if that gives me a nice fuzzy feeling or just makes me feel old.

Most of those songs of our generation really don’t have much to them beyond the title. Mr. Bojangles was much better than average.

Of all the home improvements I hate painting the most!

I love Jerry Jeff, but it was Nitty Gritty Dirt Band that made the song popular on the radio. I remember seeing Sammy Davis Jr. doing it on television…..absolutely great performance.

I wish I could remember what comedian said it, but he had a good take on it. If it is your horse, you are the one who is supposed to name it.

In general, most people know only a few lyrics to songs. Even the National Anthem. There is a lot of mumbling during the middle bits.

Regarding the National Anthem, even fewer people know about (let alone know the words) the other three verses.

I’m showing my age, of course, but I can’t understand the lyrics to the current music and I expect that’s a good thing! lol

My avatar is a kitty named Mr Bojangles, we called him Mr B. He’s in heaven now, I get teared up when I hear that song. Or even the title.

From Wikipedia:Walker has said he was inspired to write the song after an encounter with a street performer in a New Orleans jail and that the song does not refer to the famous stage and movie personality Bill “Bojangles” Robinson. Walker said while in jail for public intoxication in 1965, he met a homeless white man who called himself “Mr. Bojangles” to conceal his true identity from the police. He had been arrested as part of a police sweep of indigent people that was carried out following a high-profile murder. The two men and others in the cell chatted about all manner of things, but when Mr. Bojangles told a story about his dog, the mood in the room turned heavy. Someone else in the cell asked for something to lighten the mood, and Mr. Bojangles obliged with a tap dance.
