I blew out a disk 20 years ago. Spent six weeks getting up in the morning with my wife as she prepared for work, only I took some serious painkillers and muscle relaxers and curled back up on the bed. Like clockwork, our two cats would stick their noses over the edge of the bed at 11am precisely, look at me as if to ask “What’s wrong with the big cat?”, and then climb up on the bed and curl up behind my knees…which is where my wife would find us when she came home from work about ten hours later.

Frame three looks to me like Ludwig is doing a “feed me” pose, a la “Simon’s Cat” (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qur3-B5VFHM for example)

It’s 3:00 a.m., so I’m getting a kick out of this comic.

My cat settles on my knees, and within minutes my eyelids droop.
