I taught digital electronics at a community college for several years. One semester I was grading some homework and one of the students had added “I like big buts” to one problem’s answer. When asked about it his reply was he just wanted to see if I really read the homework.
My ex…bless her heart…wasn’t a nag. But she would have to tuck a note in my pocket as I left for work to remind me to do something. Then she would have to call me to remind me to look at the note in my pocket.
Ok, time for a tale (and a true one, at that). My wife is a note-leaver. Over the years, she has written and given (or left for me to find) little love notes here and there. If she goes out of town on an overnight business trip, she will leave one under my pillow, without telling me. A few years ago, I had a job that required a lot travel, and one trip was for 3 straight weeks. She slipped an envelope in my suitcase with 21 notes (actually there were 22, because she miscounted). After I found the envelope and realized what was in it, I resisted the urge to binge-read the notes. It became the highlight of my day to get back to my hotel room after dinner and read the next note. The notes each had a little love message or something that I did that my wife had noticed or something about me that she loved and admired. I made a point to keep all the notes, and I still have them today, and always will.
One time there was a piece of paper that I definitely had to bring with me to work, so my wife laid it on the floor in front of the door. When she got up after I had left, there was a shoe print on the piece of paper.
Sometimes you can’t tell them at the moment, so, in order to not forget, you leave them a note. If you remember when you next see them, then they can ignore the note, but if you don’t, you (at the posting of the note) hope they see it for themselves. Sorry, that took longer to say than I planned. LOL
She’s just making sure he’s paying attention. Every so often, I’ll shave my beard off and after a few days she might notice. In all fairness, after 35 years she grown accustomed to my face. :-)

The problem with notes is I have to include the reason for it or I won’t remember why I need to go where ever.

This is Hubby. I have found putting the note on the lid of the toilet seat works well. That or opening a Word document and typing in a 72 point font.
