Yup. As fast as I could peddle on my schwinn stingray. Banana seat and sissy bar.

Aunty to be fair I think that most kids did this. But what marked our type out was that we may have got nearer to home. But we waited until we were called in by our full name before we gave up the ghost and went in doors

I knew to come home when I was done stealing enough food.

Many times, as a kid, I got into trouble in the middle of summer. Around here the sun sets just after 10, and it takes up to an hour actually get dark.

Aaaah, those were the days! But do you remember how hard it was to text using street lights?

We lived in a neighborhood outside town, without street lights. When you saw the first star, you got 1 “Star Light, Star Bright,” and then home.

Well, there was that. But sometimes if you were inside a friend’s house, you wouldn’t be paying attention. So there was this thing called a telephone land line. Anyone ever heard of those? Or mom or dad might just come over and get me.

I don’t think my mom ever noticed I was gone. And dad wasn’t around.

Whenever mom called my brothers & me home, we tended to ignore her calling our names, and that’s when she got dad to call us home. All he had to do was whistle & three kids seemed to come from out of nowhere & materialize on the back porch.

And why draw when you can just copy paste stock images?

I never had a time to be home by….. my mother never allowed me out. After she died, my father was more relaxed.

In my family it was more like: Call me anything you want, but Never Late for Dinner.

If you were Late, someone else would eat every bite on your plate. Well, except for some of the Veggies.

It was the same for me, Aunty. If one hung around the house, one was given chores to do.

Summer time was terribly hot and humid so playing out side wasn’t wanted. However my mom would let me walk to and from the library.

In my neighbourhood, we had a pond. I remember going to the pond which cut the light pollution and was able to see the stars. It wasn’t just the constellations, but the Milky Way and all the gorgeous colours of the universe. That I miss most because I’ve always been a stargazer!
