Monsters do not lurk under the bed. Or the closet, ceder chest, or in a cupboard. They lurk in the mirror. They stare at you with your own image. So… for Aunty… the monster is between the sheets.
I wear long cotton/polyester nightgowns in the summer with the bare minimum on my shoulders. If the night is warm I can cover up my legs without the weight of a sheet. Can’t sleep if the fan is blowing on my legs.
I was not aware that blankets were considered adequate protection against monsters. But then, there were never any under my bed or in the closet — they were all in my mind.

I live in Florida and sleep with an electric blanket. Air conditioning is too cold for me! (But at least the monsters stay away).

I can sleep on top of the sheets. But in the winter enjoy 40 lbs of blankets pushing me into the bed.

Just wear a blindfold. They can’t see you if you can’t see them.

I have to have at least a sheet to cover myself. It gives a feeling of security.

When I was in College, I dated a woman who always slept under a heavy Quilt.
Even when her AC was broken in 90 Degree weather.
She could not sleep without her Quilt.

Sheets only? No sleepwear? Aren’t you a match for any monster foolish enough to come near you?
