I neve got hung over from scotch and water. That’s about the only thing I used to drink. I’ve had less than a half dozen hangovers in my entire life and none of them were from scotch.
I’m now a wine drinker but I don’t drink enough of it to earn a hangover.
I remember my brother’s 30th birthday. . .his buddies took him out for a bender. then dumped him at my apartment in the wee hours of the morning. When he came to the next day, he stumbled into the kitchen, looked at me and groaned, in wonder and dejection “I really CAN’T do that anymore. I guess I AM too old.”
As I would tell my “adult” friends who like to party: KNOW YOUR FORMULA! That is: you know three drinks are OK, but that fourth will mess you up. Or taking that “fun” pill with 420 is going too far past the good buzz. Know your limit and stick to it…
Most headaches are caused by dehydration, including hangovers. Hangover is the result of dehydration as alcohol is not only a poison but also a potent diuretic. Best solution is abstention, but another is to stay hydrated, which means both water and electrolytes. If you get a hangover, flood your G.I. system with water and a modest amount of electrolytes. If you can’t keep it down, repeat until you can. You’re rinsing all the poison out of your gut and reestablishing a normal electrolyte balance and a normal hydration level.
