Notre Dame Is Totally Made Up, Though…

I have recently moved to the USA to be with my husband. I’m working as a checkout clerk, and my accent gets picked up by many customers.

Customer: “Where are you from?”

Me: “I was born in Athens, Greece.”

Customer: Blank look “…Really?”

Me: “Yes, why?”

Customer: “I thought Greece was a myth, like Hercules.”

Me: “I assure you it’s a real place.”

Customer: “I thought Disney only made myths and fairy tales, like Pocahontas.”

An Old-timer remembers way back in the day: When I was a boy, my momma would send me down to a corner store with $1 and I’d come back with 5 potatoes, 2 loaves of bread, 3 bottles of milk, a hunk of cheese, a box of tea and 6 eggs. You can’t do that now… Too many security cameras.

Well, she didn’t say how they where prepared.

I have been reading a lot lately that we should consume more fermented foods.

Fruit juice, not healthy if you want to avoid diabetes.

Many a fruit drink can be improved with some sort of alcohol.

Ah yes, the Aunty cocktail, prune juice and vodka. It will get you no matter whether you are coming or going.
