Mostly it is because men don’t feel they need to read directions, just like they don’t feel they need ask for directions when they are lost; it’s a macho, a too proud , thing!
Growing up, tradition in our house was that “Santa” would leave wrapped presents (some assembly required) under the tree. No so in my matrimonial family. Their tradition was always to have the gifts assembled and placed out on Christmas morning. Still have flashbacks about that one dollhouse with the ten million screws (give or take 9,999,750 or so), clips, and a plethora of tiny pieces.
I don’t think my brother & I had too many things for our parents to assemble at Christmas. I think we usually got those kinds of things for our b-days.

Never married no children. Didn’t have to deal with this.

I imagine he finds staplers challenging

Daryl seems to be a master at making alternative modes of transportation…unintentionally of course.

My kid wanted a Ferrari. MAN was that a pain to put together all in one night!

The handle bars are easy to rotate around. Now if he had gotten the pedals on the wrong side, that would have been a whole different story.

You should be finished with that tricycle by the time your kid graduates college

Is that a bike for Hammie? With the training wheels, it looks too small for an elementary school aged kid. Maybe it’s for Wren?

Okay but following instructions and assembling stuff is my jam. I’d be all over this.

We always gave the kids their gifts unassembled….my husband could never do it. They actually had fun putting stuff together.
