No, dad. You walk from room to room, looking in drawers, behind pictures on the wall, and on the ceiling, saying, “Where’s Wren? I can’t find her.” Then after two minutes, you give up, she pops out and you are astonished at how well she hid. Get with the program.
One of my daughters did a similar thing once when playing Hide-‘N-Seek. After I had counted ten, I saw her sitting on the floor at the end of the couch with her eyes covered. She though if she couldn’t see me, I couldn’t see her. Hold over from playing “Peek-a-boo” I think. I played a along and spoke as I looked in totally ridiculous places to which she giggled. After “finding” her, I explained the error of her belief. She did a lot better hiding the next time around.
Darrell is a poor sport. He doesn’t know the joy of pretending he doesn’t see his baby girl hiding. I remember my sister saying “Where’s Tammy? I can’t see her anywhere” then looking all over my room while I lay under my bed covers with my tummy sucked in trying not to giggle. Best day ever.
When my sister was 3 she loved to hide behind a door to jump out yelling BOO! My stepmom would feign a heart attack and baby sis ran away giggling. Then Mor Mor- grandma, came to visit from Denmark. Baby sis tried the ‘boo!’ game with her.. Mor mor thought she was a horrid child.

No, Dad. You’re supposed to check every room and under all the beds, and then follow the giggles.

Darryl, come on man, everyone knows hide and seek with a toddler is more of an acting job rather than an actual game. Give the kid a break already.

My four-year old granddaughter explained to me, “Since you can’t hide, I’ll do all the hiding.”
Very thoughtful.
