Well, now we have some possible location information for this strip! The Moon is a thin crescent only shortly after sunset or shortly before sunrise. If we assume he didn’t wait in the cave all night long, which seems reasonable to me, then the early-evening crescent Moon shape is oriented (lighted side pointing more left than right) the way it would appear only in the Southern Hemisphere. Making progress! (Astro 101 students: did I figure that correctly?)

Reminds me of the time I ALMOST bowled my first perfect game. Was early in the morning, after working second shift. Was all by myself in the bowling alley. Was able to take my time, relax and really concentrate on every throw. Perfect game up to the 10th frame, not a single spare….then a party of drunk kids showed up, and for some friggin reason the attendant put them on the lane right next to me!!!!! Threw me off on the last square of the tenth frame, split spared it.
