Traveling north along the Gaspé Peninsula, the road runs the edge between steep cliffs and the ocean. Signs along the shoulder read ébouli. Took us awhile to realize the translation meant scree [colloquially as falling rock. So when a rock rolls down and the driver hauls the wheel to the right to avoid it, the only escape is a 20 foot drop-off into the ocean. Once we recognized that, we spent more time watching the cliffs than the ocean.

Def Leppard knew what they were on about: “Let’s get, let’s get, let’s get rocked!”
