That question rates right up there with “Where does the white go when the snow melts?” Or, “If a ring is round why is a boxing ring square?” When I’d ask kids those questions, they’d puzzle on them a bit and sometimes one would be audacious enough to reply, “don’t know and don’t care.”
Yes, I can just try to imagine what cavemen thought about the natural world before they invented science. For example rain. The caveman probably found out that rain is water because he cupped his hand in the rain and found out he can drink it just like water from the stream. But then it must have stumped him. How did some of the water get up there in the first place because if the caveman scoops up the water in the stream and throws it up, it only rises some 10 or 12 feet and then falls down again! How does it get up there so high in the clouds to make rain??

Clouds are like sponges — when they get too must water in them they leak, which is what we on the ground call “rain.”

They’re called rain clouds…

It appears to be a symbiotic relationship between the clouds and the rain, but I’m not sure what either gets out of it.

Well this the result of our poor public education system. 20th in science around the world.
