Tuan told us back in “Space is the Place” that Wendlefield is only 7 miles from Tackleford. It takes half an hour get there because there’s no direct route, because the Wen-Tack link road was never finished.
There was another story that came after this one, called “Wen-Tack” or “The Great Unboxing” (which were the first and last parts of it, respectively; the middle bit was “Parents”, but no one calls it that), in which Mildred recruited Linton and a group of first-years (including Romesh’s little sister Sunita, who made a brief appearance earlier in this case) to address that problem; however, John Allison decided he didn’t like it and took it down.
However, the events of the story still happened, even though the story itself is no longer online, and the fallout of the terrible chain of events Mildred set in motion is still echoing through the comics to this day.
