Baldo by Hector D. Cantú and Carlos Castellanos for February 25, 2011
Transcript:
Dad: Tia Carmen, did you talk much with your father? Tia Carmen: Oh, Sergio, we talked all the time! Tia Carmen: He would say 'Carmen go to the river to wash more clothes. Carmen, make your little sister a new dress.' Tia Carmen: 'Carmen, make new dinner plates. Carmen, build another room in the back. Carmen, go jump...' Dad: Thanks, Tia Carmen. Tia Carmen: Most of my talking was 'Si, Señor.'
TOMOTH, Carmen is Sergio’s aunt, not Baldo and Gracie’s. So Carmen’s father would have been Sergio’s grandfather, and he might still reasonably refer to him as “your father”.
Gweedo, I’m pretty sure both the Spanish-language Baldo and the English-language Baldo are the direct products of Hector and Carlos.
