Dad: So... what was your mistake? Baldo: Well, I left-clicked my cursor on wikipedia, control-C'D it, flipped to my english paper and control V'D it. Dad: I seeeee... Dad: As long as you didn't control 'F' it! Baldo: You don't know what I did, do you?

I know what he did! And he will most certainly be Ctrl-X’d by the teacher when he finds out!

On the off-chance that you’re not just pulling our legs, Baldo is saying that he copied (using keyboard shortcut Ctrl-C) text from an article in Wikipedia, and pasted (Ctrl-V) the text into his English paper. Not exactly plagiarism, if he correctly cited Wikipedia as the source (snerk!), but not what the teacher wanted at best..Ctrl-A is the keyboard shortcut to select everything on the screen for copying and pasting…which would be pretty stupid, since it would copy the Wikipedia logo as well.,Funky Winkerbean recently had a brief story arc with a teacher confronting a student about lifting his paper directly from Wikipedia — the student is honestly, and invincibly, baffled over how this could possibly be wrong: after all, if it’s on the Internet, it doesn’t actually belong to anyone, so it’s free…. That’s a depressingly true, and common, scenario — at least Baldo knows that he made a mistake.

for those unfamiliar with keyboard short-cuts,ctrl+c = copyctrl+v = pastectrl+x = cut
ctrl+f = find — but it looks like the punch-line didn’t know that

I always knew what copy, paste and cut meant but the vernacular ( control V’d and C’d) for identifying them has changed, I guess when i wasn’t looking. We always just said copy and paste………….

These young folk don’t know how good they have it! Back in the day of paper books, we actually had to physically copy from an encyclopedia with pen and paper and then use a typewriter and cabon paper to ‘print’ our report

@Mona, yep. That’s why a teacher finally suggested I learn Irish copperplate calligraphy to even be halfway legible. It worked. But I still prefer being on horseback or on the tractor…

I was giving kids (OK, college students) zeros for copying from the internet nearly 20 years ago. It’s pretty obvious, when the kid’s writing style changes dramatically.
