Let’s go for a total meltdown. There is no Santa Claus. The Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy also do not exist.

Go to the boss and say “I’m a much better employee than Joey. A competent manager would know that by now. I should be the one to get that promotion. If you promote Joey over me, then I quit.” And follow through. Quit if you have to. No bluffing. There are other jobs — especially slave labor jobs in retail, which is what this one is..But I realize that’ll be a tough stance for a teenager to take with an adult. C’mon Baldo! You can do it!

I suppose this is why they call it the ‘land of opportunity’?

Start watching Survivor, you’ll get pointers on how to manipulate people.

Baldo actually did tell his boss that he’s a much harder worker. The boss said great, he can keep working and Joey is going to be manager. A couple days ago. He has done everything right. Life truly is not fair. And I don’t see him quitting, since he really wants to work with auto parts.

Been there, done that! Guess what? I went and found another job. But not just another job, a better job!

I think I see a future story arc where Baldo’s airbrushing skills improve and he gets to work in a body shop. Perhaps even some place like those featured on TV, Orange Country Choppers? I forget their names.

And Baldo, the reward for good work is usually, more work.

That’s a lesson that usually is required to be learned the hard way. By experience.

Someone once said that it’s not life that’s unfair, but people are. Can’t disagree with that. But even long after you first learn that unfairness has always been the way of the world, it can still get to you, especially when you’re the one bearing the brunt of it.
