One good thing about employee discounts on some items at a grocery store is that it helps you budget your EBT some.

I like the strip has a character like this, OTOH here’s hoping he finds another job which will provide him with greater satisfaction than the auto parts store – sounds like he deserves it.

Baldo’s right, that is a good goal — but it’s a goal for today. It’s very hard to think about tomorrow when all your energy is spent on basic necessities of life. That’s the poverty trap, of course, and it gets people stuck in jobs they hate because they can’t afford to be choosy. But his friend is young, and this is teaching him persistence if nothing else. And focusing on the good he’s doing can help keep his spirits up and remembering that your job isn’t your life. It’s just what you do to finance your life.

There’s a disconnect. He seems entitled. That’s not the usual work ethic of someone supplementing the family existence.

It sounds like the character is in despair. On a treadmill to buy food and endure a subsistence living. Are his parents invalids or lazy? What about grandpa Joe in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Won’t get out of bed because the floor is too cold.

That’s why I worked in H.S., to help my mother feed my younger brothers (and myself).

He should just stay at the auto shop until he finds a job he may enjoy more later and then move on.
