And does management notice? If they do they sure aren’t going to let him know.

In the trade this is known as up selling.

The bad tires sound more economical by far.

Re-Caps, nothing but Re-Caps, bond some new tread on an old tire core and you’re ready to roll at a third the cost of new.

Mine were 10 years old and I thought it was a good time to get new ones. I don’t drive a whole lot anymore so there was plenty of tread.

I like to be frugal, but there are some things worth spending a little more on (but not for name brands, generally). TP is one of them.

There are date codes on tires, written as number of weeks and last two digits of year. So if you see a sequence of numbers like 4220 it tells you the tire was manufactured in late October 2020. Tires should be replaced ( at least out here in the Arizona heat) after 7 years.

Tire Blow Outs are scary. Never seem to happen on quiet road near home. Miss full service stations – they always used to check when they checked tire air pressure.

Baldo is 100% right. My tires were replaced by the retailer because one of them had a flat that couldn’t be repaired. I hadn’t read the fine print that said they will replace your tires for free, but not with the same make and model. Less than a week later, my car slid on some ice and was totaled. The new tires didn’t have as much grip as the old ones.
