But — that’s not the theory of relativity, it’s the formula for the equivalence of matter and energy. The theory of relativity involves time, movement, acceleration, gravity, and observational frameworks. Err, as best I can recall.

I was hoping she would repeat them in Spanish.

Unfortunately the desire to run past a solid foundation and the patience to master such are why many can never learn nor use higher skill levels. OTOH its still a good toon.

Time to tell my story again:

When I encountered algebra in the 7th grade, it really excited me, and I wanted to share the excitement. Most of my siblings weren’t interested, but my kindergarten-age brother was excited about the possibility of learning something new.

And he did. He actually learned the concepts. But then, nobody — certainly not our parents — had told him that he was supposed to dislike it or find it difficult.

I can see it isn’t a re-run, but it really seems familiar????

Never hurts to push what they are exposed to. Sometimes they can really surprise you. The trick is to respond positively to the engaged responses, but not react negatively to things they aren’t interested in. That will come later, if it is going to, and if you don’t poisen it now.

I’m recalling an saying “never try to teach a pig to sing. Needlessly annoys the pig and accomplishes no results.” She’s trying to teach by osmosis, not via understanding at an age appropriate time.
