Hi, Cleo friends…
I thought I wouldn’t be commenting tonight….
fell asleep for a while, but I had to come back when I saw this….
It’s a new poster from StelBel!
The link has already been given, to find it on Sherpa….
in the July 23rd 2019 “Cleo and Company.”
It’s only here on Ballard Street that we’re ten years behind.
We hide out here in the past, to give us a place to talk about our favorite Sherpa strip, which, like all Sherpa strips, has no forum of its own.
Wow… “Piddler on the Roof”!
The live basset stage musical…. starring the inimitable Zero Bassetel!
With the original choreography by Jerome Doggins.. Oh, my… can it get any better?
Watch for Bea Bea Arfur as the matchmaker…. you know her from her starring roles on television, especially in “Pawed” and “The Golden Labs”.
Great job, Stel!
Trivia…. how many know that the book for this musical was adapted from short tales written by celebrated Doggish storyteller, Sholem I’like’em?
But the title (and the poster) were suggested by several paintings by the Russian-French Doggish artist, Bark Shagall.
The humans did a Pale imitation….
(That’s actually a horrible pun that nobody will get.
A “43% off one dinner at the Tiki” coupon to the first person who does, and can explain it.)
Since the human production starred, you know… people… in the canine roles, it lacks the charm of the basset original.
And because, with their human delicacy, they pussyfooted (always a bad sign) around the title, and called it “Fiddler,” instead of “Piddler” …
There’s no organic reason for them to have copied the aptly-colored yellow background of Stel’s “Piddler” poster.
