This time, Martha has nailed it! She has finally achieved the drama and suspense that will attract the attention of the critics. The “Five Grains of White Rice in a Circle” and “The House of Saltless Saltines” were too bland to draw interest, and Martha’s work was largely ignored at the 2011 Ballard ArtFest.
Ohhhh…..but, this year! This is Martha’s year of triumph. It took 6 months of coming up with the right mix of color, texture, placement and background….hundreds of hours of trial and error….bags of dried peas and how expensive are those shelled walnuts!!!?? Will that last pea catch up to the other two? Will they all make it to the shelled walnut in time, before the light gets dim and burns out?
Here on her great aunt’s card table, the witness of marathon mah jong games and bridge tournaments of the past, life’s eternal questions will be played out. And, it was worth all the agonizing — all those sleepless nights. This is Martha’s year! Ruthie doesn’t have a prayer…
As you, no doubt, are already aware…FlyKittyFly has brought a lawsuit against Ballard St. Adult Tours and Toys (BSAT&T) for promoting and selling Feline Torture Devices. They’ve all been pulled from the shelves, pending the outcome of this case, and my attorneys have advised me not to comment further (but, then again, they’re always telling me not to comment……).
That should go to New York and be a modern art piece. Had a guy in high school do a picture. It was all white except for three black spots arranged in a triangle configuation. He called it Polar Bear in a snow storm. He had another next to it same thing except for a single black spot. He called it Polar Bear in a Snow storm with its eyes closed. He got an A for originality. A D for subject. We were suppose to do sea scapes.
Set ’ ♪ em up ♫ boys…..It’s been quite a day… or several….I decided I need to stay on Ballard St. tonight instead of taking the bus here in the morning….
I need a bit of R&R….Monkey? Anything up at the Tiki?Yak ribs and daiquiris for an old friend?(and…um… how are your feet?)
And if that doesn’t work… …. Red, or Linguist, or Storm…. is there a party elsewhere? Music?
Maybe a shot of Glenfiddich….. neat, if you please…. to nurse all through the twilight?
I’m on the way too, Bev….I had a little transport problem(ie that “problem loading comments, please try again” business..) but it seems to have cleared up.

Sidewalk art, sure to fetch a good price.

That’s a power cord for the lamp, not a hose. You don’t want to get them confused. Trying to get a drink out of a power cord is not advised.

Not bad. I’ve seen worse.
If the price is right, I’d buy it, cos I need a card table.
As long as the glue didn’t bleed through and stick the peas to it.
What?

I’ll have whatever Beviek has been having.

That Martha, she’s a deep one… (I’m especially impressed by her expert lighting scheme; Martha thinks of everything.)

At least she didn’t go with her other art idea. Three pine cones and an eyeball from a dead opossum.

Someone ought to take a picture of Martha’s masterpiece and send it over to Teresa at Frog Applause. She’s always looking for new and unusual things.

Your comment so made me laugh. Very deep. I always take things so literally – all I saw was 3 peas and a walnut.

Martha smokes the leaves of that “tree” to find her muse.
MeGoNow Premium Member about 12 years ago
Surprisingly, it’s better than a whole lot of so-called art. At least there’s some drama with the separated pea and tension with the walnut.

In 30 years from now, on PBS " Antiques Roadshow." Martha’s
daughter will present this art and it will be conservatively
appraised at $25,000-$30,000
