I just did the witch but I’ve actually posted both the others here on Ballard St in the last couple of months.

Bri — I had a swamp cooler on my roof, too, till it rusted out and I never replaced it.

Very few people around here have real air conditioning cos we get so few really hot days …but when we do, it can be 110 degrees.

Still, it’s usually only hot for a few hours and might be 50 at night, so fans are enough most of the time.

Hiya Red… glad that works out to some sort of balance…gotta admit I can’t actually follow it cos I don’t know the colors for any sports teams…Ok… the Oakland Raiders are silver and black….and yes I do know they play football not baseball.(I know cos kids can’t wear those colors to some schools, and also, when they returned to Oakland some years back there were T-shirts that said “The Silver and Black are back.”)

Beviek & briatollah, we might have had one of those swamp coolers when I lived in Lawton for 6 months back when I had to be in the Army. I know for sure we had one in El Paso. The ElPaso one had a thing like a furnace filter in shape that was made of straw. Water got dripped on it it as air was pulled through it to be cooled by the evaporation of the water. Got to be good friends with the manager of the apts who was also in the army. We still write eath other.The Wikipedia article on them might help.

Woo wee! Yesterday it was 60 degrees. An hour later it was 50. Today it is 48 with high winds that make it feel like it’s in the low 30’s. Y’all be careful out there. That can shiver me timbers really bad!

I really need more than a wee tipple !I was slated to sail the old Irish Rover up the East Coast to New England near the end of the week but obviously, that plan has been scuttled. Am awaiting word on what ( if anything ) I’m going to do, on the weekend.Between the weather and other factors, this is already starting out to be a BAD week for everyone.Glad I convinced my brother and his wife in Ct. to follow my example and vote by absentee ballot. Just heard that 16% of Florida voters have already cast their ballots.

Wyatt, had evesdropped on Stel on Saturday talking on the phone down at her WWOI…. and not grasping the context of the concussion discussion misunderstood her in describing the benefits of “Prince shedding his adornments”, and felt that if it excited the other gender THAT much…. well then, a boring Monday after tea seemed like the perfect time to ratchet up the excitement in the Belmont’s household….(oh no… Wyatt…. dont do it….!!! Gloria has a flyswatter…!)

as a noobie, I am sure my vote only counts for a 1/4 of the old timers here, but I vote for this weekend, so we have time to get over the hangover before the work week starts again…lol…my grandson is napping so give me a pineapple daquiri please…and keep those tomato’s away from me…I have given so many people my excess that they are crossing the street when they see me coming because they are afraid I have red orbs with me to press on them…sigh…true love and home grown tomato’s indeed…

Just a quick “Hi!”. The wind is getting very strong and I don’t know how long we’ll have power tonight. So far, so good. We had a quick 30 sec. outage a couple of hours ago. My sister, who lives a half mile away, lost power for a couple of hours this afternoon. No heavy rain yet…just off and on light rain, but the wind is starting to look very scary. Temperature is fairly warm 63 degrees. We just took Max out, just around the driveway during a brief break in the action. He is not a happy camper! He hates this and is very nervous!! We got back into the house just in time! The wind gusted to maybe 60-70 mph. It looked like the trees would be lifted right out of the ground!

OK…leaving here and stopping at Citizen Dog and maybe the Village if I have time. I’ll try to stay in touch! Best wishes to everybody in the path of the storm!! Stay safe!!

Great bunch of comments – TV in the background is SO ANNOYING me with political ads and I refuse all phone calls right now other than family. .I don’t like to keep either jewelry or clothing on once I can be home and relax, but that is just for my lover and I and he’s only 9 months younger than I am so we are OK with how we naturally look. Not naturalists, so we do not inflict nakedness on others.

Thanks Briatollah for the idea…and of course, thank you Monkey, for the yak meat and the use of the rotisserie… and the wonderful hospitality of the Tiki Bar!More popular than any actual restaurant on Ballard St….even Mabel’s French Family Cookin’ and Fried Freshwater Codfish Bar (though it’s a better fit for families with underage children, of course… and Free Fancy Cookie night remains a big draw on Fridays.)
