Ballardeers, the ole Capt. is headed to the Tiki for a nightcap. You are all welcome to join me. I’m buying. Bri. I owe you a belated birthday drink anyway, so come along. Ed, Marge, Bev ( if your back), emjay, and anybody else that I’ve accidentally overlooked, your all most welcome.I am celebrating the fact that for a change ( other than tripling up my posts ) the Inca Internet Connection gods are smiling tonight at GoComics ….
Well, Bev… we shall have to agree to disagree…unless you think the Ballard Street Select Committee on Resident Behavior should select a subcommittee to go to the Neeley’s house..perhaps this Saturday? …and ask whether they are satisfied with their situations vis-a-vis parading Mrs. Neeley through the streets?
I really don’t like to convene the Ballard Street Select Committee on Resident Behavior, ever since the appalling behavior displayed at the last convening of said committee.
If he comes back, little monkeys, just follow this recipe…. very carefully.
The piloncillo water is cooling… don’t touch it while it’s hot….
Remember … one drink at a time, work slowly… it’s still fast to humans. There’s a banana for you to share right over there…We don’t need any more peeled unless a lot of people order banana daiquiris… and it’s a Tuesday.
Yes, Big Monkey is here… but only wake him up if it’s a real emergency. If it’s about a drink recipe, or the garnish on a yakburger…look in the big binder…and if you can’t find it, call me.
Oh, yes, 76 more horns. My dad was a big band person too, but dropped his musical ambitions after the merger of Fox and 20th Cent. He took great care of mom after her stroke (in later years) and eventually she had one of those motorized chairs (he had a crane for in installed in the trunk of the Caddie). He was also familiar with the sousaphone (and with Mr. Sousa) back in his college days, and played piano as well – and was the band leader in college. If he had continued, I would have been born out in CA, instead of back in Oak Park, IL. Instead, he and his older brother teamed up to do the family realty business (and a Mortgage company).
My man has one of those electric chairs that he bought on the net. He keeps it in the trunk when we go to places with large grounds because he gets plenty of walking in his work (and carrying stuff). He wants us to take turns riding in it, but I prefer that he ride, because I think too many people assume that the one riding is handicapped and I am perfectly fit (as is he)
It is very comfortable to walk behind or beside it (and use it for all the stuff) and I’d just as soon he’d save his energy for later ;-D
Mr Neeley rues teh day that teh missus found his old Coast Guard Band picture of him and his band mascot C# (Sea Sharp)….aand although he’s not as strong as he used to be… the thought has more than once crossed his mind, wondering if she would just lose a few pounds… maybe, just maybe….
Oh the music goes round and round and comes out here!Mr. Neeley isn’t heading for a cliff by any chance, is he? He could do one more thing for Mrs. Neeley…

I imagine Mr Neely wishes his wife played the piccolo instead of the sousaphone.

Ling!
You always have to say “knock wood,” or “with any luck,” or some such, when you invoke the blessing of powerful deities….
They don’t allow mere mortals to assume that their good natures will prevail!

I’ve gotta get to the Tiki myself….
when I’m not there, the little monkeys work by themselves on Tuesday nights….

Usually the expression “can’t do enough for someone” means the do-er is delighted to um… do it for the… er.. the do-ee.
so I think Mr. Neeley’s expression is more a reflection of effort than of dissatisfaction.
I’m reading it that he thinks she’s quite a star… and wants to display her in all her glory.

Adolf Sax also invented the Wagner tuba. It’s sound is more like a French horn, but even richer.
