I read an article in the paper about an equine dentist. Horses need their molars “floated” (ground down) every so often.Canine dentistry is a growing field, too.

    Oh my….

But…. yes….in fact, in certain occupations…. The PPE is um…. small enough to carry in a wallet….but it can save lives….

A vet suggested, long ago, that I brush my 14 pound schipperke’s teeth….

She was a veritable little hurricane on 4 paws…but I tried….once…..First it was a great game… requiring, she decided, about 27 claws and 99 teeth…and a great deal of kicking, jumping, and wrestling…. (Don’t even ask me where she got the extra claws and teeth.) When she realised I intended to actually manipulate the brush in her mouth, rather than playing tug of war….she simply bit off the brush head. One chomp.

Larry Chambers looks ready for anything- except pet dentistry. How does he propose to fit those big gloves into a tiny cat or dog’s mouth? But, I must say, he should be fairly safe from injury….I see that Ballard Street residents love live entertainment!

Gosh… it’s so hot, way out at the Western end of Ballard Street, I had to come into town just to cool off, even though I have no salon appointments today.96º here, or so I’m told.

Guess I’ll stop by the Tiki for a Coke or a beer…. is anybody there?Nobody seems to be about on the street.

C’mon, Elvis…. you can lounge in the shade out back and I’ll let you have a yak bone, even though bones aren’t that great for dog cars.

Just promise you won’t puncture a tire.

Ballard Street has been blessedly free of them, and we need to keep it that way.

bev, I think Sidney Greenstreet is a wonderful character actor. Even though he was second banana to the likes of Bogart and Stanwyck, their films were that much better because he was in them. That said, I’ve never seen Three Strangers though – or any other film with him in a leading roll. But as I understand it, during the war years, this was a common Hollywood practice, with many of the usual box office draws were doing their duty to the country.

I have not seen, to my recollection, any such movie, with the exception of The More The Merrier. It was so good, I bought the DVD. Charles Coburn got top billing with Jean Arthur and Joel McCrea. The movie was later remade with Cary Grant, Samantha Eggar and Timothy Hutton as Walk, Don’t Run. In as much as I like Cary Grant, I like the original better. Coburn is a little more believable than Grant, and Arthur’s much better than Eggar..

At any rate the contributions of the likes of Greenstreet, Coburn, Ward Bond, Marjorie Main, Thelma Ritter, Walter Brennan, and William Bendix to the makings of these motion pictures is often overlooked. But a star is only as good as the supporting cast. And that was just a short list of some of my favorites. I do have others.

@Grog, you left the car windows open? When I lived back in IL that was a problem (and I had no garage to my house there). The rain was not much of a problem, but I HATE snow and slush. The only time I’d ever prefer weather there in during our Monsoon (when we get humidity here) but that is usually less than a month.

Not wide open, Dazz. Just open wide enough to get the interio wet if the storm were coming from the wrong direction.

it’s been a pretty soggy day here today. One of the gadgets I bought today tells me the exterior temperature. If it’s right, it’s currently reading 75 outside. Before the rains came, it registered 84. Well at least the rain is keeping the temperature down. It’s supposed to get into the upper 90’s this week though.
