I have the Texas Chainsaw Ensemble on CD (Rhino records) – The Beatles’ “Birthday”, Dolly Parton’s “I will Always Love You”, and other classics played on the Husk-Varna. My favorite is still a group called Rondellus and their CD “Sabatuum” – the music of Black Sabbath, translated into Latin, performed medieval style: “War Pigs” as a courtly dance is intriguing, to say the least. Also google “Moody Bluegrass” – music of the Moody Blues done as a banjo-based country-western ensemble. Quite a change.
Once again cooler minds prevail. Shirley has shed the polka dots but reserves the right to put them on again as the situation warrants. One more word to the wise and then another round of polka dots madness and blue hair diatribe. Gene has seen it before and it’s not beauty. Stan may believe good fences make good neighbors; he will have another think coming if he makes one more sound with that wretched horn. It’s a fantastic Saturday morning, great potential to be the best Fourth long weekend ever, on the other hand choking on a sock will cause blurry vision, shortness of breath, weak knees, stomach cramps, flat feet, hearing lose, dry throat, lose of appetite, nail fungus, poor TV reception and headaches; it’s your call Gene.
As a former band geek I remember the trumpeters trying to out-do each other on the high notes they could reach. We tromboners would try to hit lower and lower notes, As well as the “skyscraper” notes.
Hi susan, happy, marg, Storm and others. May I have some yak stew and a cold one (Steam Whistle Pilsner) over here? I’ll watch the little monkeys do their stuff. Such charm.
On my way home tonight I decided that I was to tird to cook.I stopped at a little market and got a tomato and head of letice to make a sandwich for dinner.I got home and realize I am to tired to do that.My earlier statement was propheletic. I’m having cookies and tea for dinner.Night all…
Thanks for waking me up, Fenton…. I thought I’d be awakened when it got a little noisier in here… but it’s pretty quiet…especially with the trombone battle hushed.
Also, it’s been such a long week I could probably sleep through anything.
Hi Sid… glad you could come in… with two of you here I can go back to the salon and go to bed.
Good morning to those of you coming in soon…
Nice pics, Stel, and Happy….and thanks for the greeting, Shika…
And just in case you were counting on the now-quiet trombones for a wake-up call….
I decided to change mine to an old costume, with a mask of some of cuddles feathers. Susan’s last post reminded me of some of my own illumination. I need to get back to doing more of that.
I decided to upload a few tiny details from some of the scrolls (I could use the one with the cockatoo I drew as my avatar). I did a caricature of myself on another (which had caricatures of the recipient and 2 other friends as well with our pets -the gentleman often wears a plastic spider in his beard)
I made the heads a little big for bodies, but they were so scrunched at the bottom (layout is from an authentic Medieval scroll) and the other scribes are looking askance at my baby because that beak could be dangerous around paperwork.

A minor setback….gotta please the little lassie…Current score… Gene 16, Harry 12…(Unless you ask Harry…. of course.)
The “Brass on the Grass” will resume tomorrow….
7am… weather and Gladys permitting.
And not if Mrs. Simpson actually gets that @#$% restraining order she’s been threatening…. but that’s unlikely with Sheriff MonkeyBlues out of town.

And, on the other end of Ballard St., Earl Nimmers and “Duke” Simmons polish their skills at “jousting trombones on Segways”…

Not to worry….the Segways are well trained professionals and are presently resting in their stable.
However, 76 trombones ended up in a heap after trying to slide away…thank goodness someone had the foresight to bring 78.

Just stopped in for a quick Kahlua and Presidente nightcap. I attended 2 webinars today and did not get a lot done otherwise (some email catching up).
The photos were great, Stel and Happy! GN all!
