I never post anything political, but don’t look now, we just went out of business. Among other things, all National Parks are closed immediately and indefinatel y and everyone in them has 24 hours to get out. How did we come to this?Sad, really sad.

Morning Ballardeers ! I am up bright and…er… scratch the bright part,… I’m up early ( for me) this morning. I guess I won’t be staying up to make the turns too often in the future. Seems that I have other more pressing business at that hour, and am returning to arising at the ungodly hour of five o’clock ( Central Time ) to oversee my First Mate’s deployment to employment.That means I shall miss some of the late night/early morning crowd at the Tiki, but it is a sacrifice worth making.I’m not going anywhere, I just will be a little later ( or earlier – depending on your perspective ) checking in.Ain’t love grand ?

My office is co-located with the USDA, awfully quiet here today with only the five of us here. The capital was going to make us shut down, as they are the lease holders, but they changed their minds and said we could stay. Schucks! :-(

Gene you are pure genius, brains and brilliance, Shirley couldn’t be prouder. You have taken Popular Mechanics into the Twenty First Century and beyond. Pardon me for tearing up a bit; I’m having a Star Trek moment. Now we know why you wanted roller skates for Christmas. Now we know why you made all those clandestine errands to Radio Shack. Yes you are smiling and we are glad for you. Now we know why the International Confederation of Wind Analysis and Weather Related Power Sources wants your picture. Think. Think of all the accessories. Hats and caps, wind shields and bug deflectors, low battery indicators and high voltage warning sirens, why there is a fortune to be made in wind paddles alone. Can you imagine how popular purple paddles will be, why every wife on Ballard Street will want one except June, she’s the wholesome pink type. I am proud to call you friend. I was wondering if I could have the concession stand at the County Fair, I’ll supply all the head bands and overhead, you bring the device, we will be rich, I tell you.

I hope Gene patented his idea. I wouldn’t want unscrupulous opportunists, such as: ( names deliberately Left out ) to take advantage of him. We all know what a kind and trusting soul Gene is. I don’t want to say he’s gullible, perhaps innocent is a better term for him.Sherif ( Eye for Crime and Pretty Women ) MunkyBluz and I will do everything we can to protect Gene from these shysters and flimflam artistes. Won’t we Sherif ?

Yes, I have told the kids how I want to be cremated (as cheaply as possible and put it a pretty urn that I have selected -with Cuddle’s ashes as well) and I want them to have a good Irish style wake. I won’t go until I figure I’d be better off there ;-D because I plan another 20+ years with more enjoyment than the part where I was working.

If I can’t find a match for that man back home I will have to sell this house, but I have not made a serious try yet. I enjoy good food and drink but nothing that much – last year was phenomenal!!

Our best friend died of ALS last year (18 months) and we were there for her always. Her Daughter said she couldn’t stand to see her paralyzed and so never came near. At the funeral she made a long speech about how she loved her and waited on her and on and on and on. Two of us held on to the third friend to keep her from standing up and calling the daughter a hypocrite among other things.

Gene’s hair certainly looks wind swept, doesn’t it?

A lot of “FOOD FOR THOUGHT”! I would share my thoughts as an “only” but the sentiments expressed here have given many thoughts and memories to a lot of us here! I don’t know what else to say except I am glad WE HAVE THIS FORUM to share our thoughts and expressions and a place to come to when we need to “vent”!
