Clearly Geoffrey missed that checkbox that asked if he uses stilts. One of the hazards of buying online.. there is no fitting room to try them on first.

I’ll be darned if I’m going to pay $20 for hemming. I’ll buy them and hem them myself. Of course, it takes up to six months to get around to it.
