Martin concedes that everything has gone to cot

Something is amiss. That chair and the, you know , part that’s supposed to fit in it, ….there are serious discrepancies.

We had a project deadline once. I was awake for 60 hours while my compatriots caught cat naps under their desks while computer programs ran. The project met the deadline. My boss drove me home and told me to take a week off.

I’ve never been able to sleep on a cot like that. My arms or legs would become numb and wake me up… and I’m not even that big. I wonder how army guys who are much larger then me were able to sleep on them.

As a young lad employed as a maintenance person for a major hotel chain, during night shifts I napped under the office desk. If the phone rang it would wake me.

I wandered into the lab one morning and saw a pair of feet sticking out from under a lab bench. They belonged to a student snoozing under the bench. I asked “Are you okay?” and he startled awake, looked at his watch, and said “Oops, I need to get to class!” As he picked up his backpack, I said “You know, that floor hasn’t been cleaned since last summer.” He just said “Meh” and headed out the door…
