With age usually comes the wisdom to hire some younger guy to do the stuff you never really knew how to do in the first place. So that when he screws it up you can say, “What’d you expect? He’s just some dumb kid.”
Having had the misfortune of working for 84 lumber for a couple of years I’ve heard a great list of horror stories. Whenever I have moved I’ve found a reliable contractor and kept him.

If you get old enough, you’ll still screw things up but it won’t bother you anymore. Sort of the same kind of thing that happens with tenured faculty.
