D, it’s all well lingo. Luckily, though I’ve lived in some small towns, I was never on a well. One place I lived in, I was the last house on the city water system. The original owner (I was the second) had paid big time for the city to run a pipe out to him.
We had a house in Upstate NY that was on a well, then the town finally ran a water main down our street. Six months later we had an ice storm that knocked out our power for 27 days. If we’d still been on the well we’d have been S-O-L! Kept the house warm with the wood stove, cooked on a Coleman stove, and used oil lamps for light.
