Chuck: What's all this? Banks: I'm sampling all the food on our menu. Banks: We need to find a way to compete with the food at Morgan's Eleven. Chuck: Alright, now, look: When we opened Chuck's, we wanted a nice neighborhood watering hole. Chuck: The food has always been secondary. Allen: You can say that again. Allen: Bleh!
One of my favorite things to do, since a child, has always been go out to eat. Didn’t matter where — diner, pub, white-cloth, whatever. I must say that watching Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares was a real eye-opener. From people who think that because they eat they can run a restaurant to cooks who pick stuff up off the floor and throw it in the fryer ‘cuz “Heck, the hot oil will clean it” to owners who have NO clue that they have put someone in charge of the kitchen who has NO clue that food can rot and get bugs; that green is not the healthy color of any edible meat; and if it makes you gag smelling it you shouldn’t cook it. I still enjoy eating out but now I feel a little like the most adventurous (i.e., stupid?) of explorers. Sigh.
