I remember the Simpsons episode where Homer wants to find out what the J in “Homer J. Simpson” is for. And “Orenthal” isn’t bad, too.

My Dad’s middle name was John. First name was Anselm shortened to Ansel. Coworkers and his buddies called him AJ though.

I’m a “J.B.”, too. So grateful my first name is NOT “Jehosephat”!

My parents gave me the middle name, Silveira, same as my father and grandfather, used my confirmation name, Joseph, so my parents would not open my mail, lived with them.

OK, Barn… ☺

Better than calling one’s dad “sir.”

My belief: If my kids want to stop calling me “dad” and refer to me as “Robert” or “Bob”, then I will no longer call them my kids. And just like my friends who call me Bob, call if you want to get together, we’ll do lunch sometime…

Jehoshaphat was largely a good man. His name isn’t flattering to the English ear, though.
