They won’t have time for texting because they will be studying the playbooks for State Grand Theft Auto Playoffs.

To many (too many!), Facebook is no longer a non-violent game.

My grandfather was born before cars were a thing. He sometimes forgot what year he was living in, and would tell us to go play in the street — because apparently that’s what streets were for before the invention of the automobile!

Just mind the horse droppings. And scoop ’em up, because they were valuable for some reason.

We didn’t text as children, but we sure as well would have if we’d had the chance.

We passed notes in class. That’s sort of like texting.

I don’t see the problem with texting as being different than the amount of time teenagers spent on the phone in previous times. I really have much more of a concern about social media simply because of the uncontrolled distribution. It used to be much harder to make something public beyond a small group and it used to be easier to control it when it got out of hand. (Not easy mind you, but easier) Now it is essentially impossible and we are seeing people impacted by things they said or did a decade earlier. That doesn’t seem right. Most crimes have a statute of limitations – but a twitter post does not.

Kids in the future will be winging thoughts at each other faster than they type today. Adults will be trying to keep up, and news articles will start appearing about how somebody’s daydreams about somebody else got loose and got them in trouble…

I’m so glad video games weren’t a thing when I was young. we had a great neighborhood full of kids, a great time was a Stingray bike ride away. One family even had a trampoline set in the ground so it was level with the lawn. (a real rectangular trampoline, before everyone could get one)
