Our cat plays fetch. We fire the hair ties that my daughter uses across the floor and he gets them and bring them back. Hilarious to watch. And we don’t get emotionally attached to hair ties.
I have to play “Fetch” according to my female cat’s rules: I toss the object, she runs and grabs it, then runs off into some corner of the room and stays with it until I walk over, pick up the object, throw it, then she runs and catches it and “hides” it all over again. I don’t play the game very longer anymore, and she seems very happy about that.

I bought my nephew’s cat a toy mouse that shrieks when he chews on it. Everyone who sees it is horrified.
Best. Christmas. Gift. Evar!

I doubt that cats pretend to kill fake living creatures, or do anything else, for fun. They do it to keep in practice, just in case.

Hmm. Toy toast with a smiley face, to show that the toast is “into it.” Now that’s just a bit disturbing. lol
