A friend was once giving a client presentation and said “It’s not rocket science.” She sensed some discomfort in the audience and asked what was wrong. They told her, “Well, actually we are rocket scientists.”

Nephew is a Rocket Scientist.Yep, I remember Estes. Did a design of a glide recovery Bi wing rocket. Worked wekk but fin and wing alignment had to be perfect or it would shatter on liftoff. I made one for a D engine. Whoo EEEEE! what a mess!

I looked up the origin of the phrase, It isn’t Rocket Science. I was surprised to learn the phrase has only been around since the mid-’80’s. It replaced the phrase, It isn’t brain surgery, which had only been around since the mid ’60’s. I decided to coin a new term, It ain’t Rocket Surgery.

I also wonder which of the two, Brain Surgery or Rocket Science is more complicated. I would guess Brain Surgery. At least the stakes are higher. Your life or cognizant thought vs. a rocket. Of course a rocket could go off course and hit you on the head, no need for brain surgery after that.
