Thank you, Tuhalu. I get sick of hearing people rationalize their support for the slaughter of sharks with hyperbole. Instead of people shouting SHARKS! BEARS! SNAKES!, those animals should be shouting HUMANS!
After seeing a video (hidden camera on fishing boat) shown on the news a while back about Shark finning – - Sharks having their fin hacked off while still alive and then tossed overboard to die.quite disgusting. so yes, sharks should beware of humans. And Shark Fin Soup should be banned everywhere, forever.
Last year (2013), Florida led the nation in shark attacks. There were 23. -Just recently, there have been 5 in Brevard County. The latest was a 10 year old girl wading in knee deep water. -What frequently happens when there are a bunch of these episodes is a running of the fish that sharks are following, close in to shore. The tiny fish are rarely that evident to people who are wading or swimming right along the beach. The sharks that are following the fish are just biting at and consuming whatever is in their path, so the idea that we need to be more careful basically means that we need to shut down beaches every time someone sights a fin.
We are a confusing species indeed. Sharks are simple to understand as they are very large eating machines. Period. Meanwhile, we swim in oceans that we refuse to learn about before entering. I do agree with the need for a ban on shark fin soup and a stiff penalty for any country caught participating in such a barbaric act.

“We’re a confusing species” – one of the greatest understatements of all time.
