Remember all those golden girls you met at the beach? THEY LIVED THERE. You can’t get a decent tan in a week. They worked at it for a good, long while; and for your thoughts, you will burn.
One year my husband and I volunteered to work at the local NASCAR track, in customer services. I stood by a bench and when someone needed a ride to the gate (the parking lot is HUGE) due to crutches or something, I would radio for a golf cart. My husband manned one of the carts. Anyway, we were there before sunrise. I stood at my post with my back to the sunrise. By the time the race started (and we had to reverse the procedure), the backs of my legs were so badly burned…but the fronts were their usual fish-belly white. I had to work the next day, and putting nylons on just about killed me; my boss took pity on me and sent me home.
Three statisticians went on safari.A lion charged them. The first statistician threw up his gun, fired, hit three feet to the right. The second statistician threw up his gun, fired, hit three feet to the left. The third statistician said, “Well, I guess we got him.”
Take your Nature Made D3 from Walmart. 5000 mg/250 softgels for $9! Most people are D3 deficient, me included. And I live on the CA coast AND try to lay in the sun for awhile each day!
My brother had first and second degree burns after falling asleep under a sunlamp (1964 or so). Fortunately, no complications and no long term harm (other than perhaps skin cancer still in the future). My sister was getting married in 3 days, and he was an usher. Looked a sight in the wedding photos.
For y’all foolish people who didn’t grow up in the ol’ south, I offer the following sage advice. If you’re prone to kitchen or ironing burns, metal welding burns, fire burns, caustic chemical blistering and yes, even solar rad burns, there IS a solution that was compounded at least hundreds of years ago in China (Beijing?) from 7 different plants. If you are lucky enough to live near a Chinese pharmacy or community, ask if they have any “Geen Mun Hong” (or, copy this image “京万红” and show it to them — it says the same thing.) In Hong Kong, a small tube costs only about US$2, but it will last a long time, nor does it spoil. It will contain a brownish, slightly oily, fragrant ointment that should be applied to the burn as soon as possible. The sooner, the faster will the healing begin and the pain go away. In the case (for example) of an ironing burn, immediate application will even prevent scarring, but don’t pick at the bubble and try your best not to pick at any damaged skin. Just keep applying the GMH 2-3 times a day for as long as necessary, which should not be more than 3-4 days for all but the most severe burns.

Don’t try surfing on an air mattress when the tide is going out.

No sunburn is only medium rare, 2nd degree is well done.

Second degree, assuming it is correct, means he blistered and that is much more than an ordinary sunburn.

I did that ONCE. It looked like it was snowing every time I took my shirt off for a week.

Having done that as a youngster, I’d like to know how he’s sitting on that rock. I could only sit on the very edge of the chair.

As a child I was exposed to large doses of thermonuclear radiation (that’s what sunshine is). It was supposed to be good for you.
You can get a tan in a couple of days, but you have to time your exposures carefully, gradually building up.
