The scream of the year is inevitable after that setup — fabulous spider, by the way! — as is the platter of Halloween Treats later found to have been randomly scatted over a 10-yard radius!
“IT SOUNDED LIKE A SIMILAR DRAWING STYLE”??? Sorry, I’m utterly baffled. Help, please?
Thanks Melv and Lee-Anne Griffin, I receive both B.C. and the Wizard of Id every day and am well aware that Johnny Hart in involved in both, presumably as the artist.
Panels one and two are exquisite. But, however directly or obliquely I look at panel three, the King saying “IT SOUNDED LIKE A SIMILAR DRAWING STYLE” in reply to Wiz’ “DID YOU JUST HEAR A SCREAM?” sorry no, not a microgram of funny in sight.
I know I’m missing out on something, somewhere, big-time. Is it that The King and The Wiz never, ever appear in B.C.? And, if so, how does that happening make it funny, clever or witty?
The joke is, that the scream was so loud, it could be heard way across to another comic, done by the same artists. Old saying—if you have to explain it, then it was not funny to begin with.

Wonder if the Dogs of C Kennel heard her also? (If so, Iggy’s probably atop the ceiling!)

I read both strips every day, though neither is high on my list for quality art or humor. This one, however, shows a rare bit of cleverness. Good job!
