Fred is apparently living on his laurels as a large land mammal.

Decades ago warfarin was used to try to eradicate rats. Now there are more rats than ever, and humans use warfarin as a blood thinner. Somewhere rats are laughing.

Those rats.. that have become dependent on humans will be in trouble when “we” leave.

The intercontinental gene-pool brings the adaptability across while maintaining the breed. Humans will survive for the same reason. Civilizations are passing fancies.

Somehow these characters remind me of similar characters in Ice Age, & Squirrel forever in thrall with large acorn.

The rats are still around, they’re all in politics!

Both rats and bats are very successful mammals.
